Three Things Thursday

one.     So... my heart was broken this weekend ....I went grocery shopping this past weekend and there was fall/halloween stuff EVERYWHERE! Everything pumpkin is back - Why oh why can't we wait until September 22nd (official start of Autumn) or even like in November? I know most people are ecstatic but this girl doesn't want summer to leave! Time to pull down the sweaters and boots and reorganize my closet - dresses and sandals you will be missed!

one a.   Speaking of Labor Day Weekend - I decided to wear all white at our family barbecue.  Thanks to my beautiful mamma's boutique for my flowy summery outfit. {Also my husband matched me - he's such a cutie}

two.      iPhone 7 pre-order tomorrow!! I will have had my iPhone for exactly two years tomorrow - it functions just fine but I'm bored and totally over deleting my text conversations and pictures in order to take more pictures :) so I will be one of those crazy people preordering my phone at midnight tonight =D

two a.   Speaking of iPhones, I was really annoyed when I couldn't delete the Podcasts app off of my phone. So it was immediately filed away in another folder along with my so useful "Stocks" and "Tips" {just kidding} under the label "Extras" - I don't think i've ever even opened any of these apps.  But I recently came across The Skinny Confidential - she has a great blog and posts some great snaps as well.  One of things I've been obsessing over recently is their His and Her podcast. Check it out if you haven't already.  Cheers to finally finding use for the Podcast app.

three.    I'm currently reading Mindy Kaling's "Why Not Me?" But I have these books in my amazon cart - I'm dying to read these!! But I refuse to order multiple books together because then I get distracted and never finish the one I already started.  Girl Boss, You are a Badass, and Leave Your Mark

three a.    I'm all about getting my hustle on and finding positivity and productivity in all aspects of my life right now.  If you don't know who Superwoman is you must check her out.  I've been watching her vlogs and am really trying to capture her positivity in my life as well.  I just preordered her book.

four.         totally unrelated - I wish my favorite sushi place as on grubhub/seamless/basically delivered all the way from the city. Okay bye.

Read With Me : Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

Happy Friday Loves!!
As you may or may not know I love reading! I'm not sure if this still happens in elementary schools but almost monthly we'd have a book fair and reading marathons in school back in my day. It was something I always excelled in and was a great outlet for my imagination to wander in all directions.  This reading habit was something my parents strongly encouraged and admired my dedication to finishing my current read in just a few days time.  Their basement is full of boxes of all the books I've ever read in my life.  I want to have a large library wall in my dream home one day {with a sliding ladder - I'm secretly hoping to be Belle lol}.

I still remember I was in the sixth grade, a brand new middle school with a larger than life library (which I'm sure is just average size if I were to visit it now) where I came across my very first Harry Potter book. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone!

From then on every time a new book was released my dad would pick up a copy on his way home from work for me and I'd be done with the book in just a couple days and then mop around the house from #harrypotterwithdrawals.  And here I am almost 17 years after reading my very first Harry Potter book, suffering Harry Potter withdrawals again.  It's almost like that show you just binge watched on Netflix and don't know what to do with yourself now that its over.  You almost think about the characters as if they were your family members...  ( I just went through this with Orange is the New Black) Wondering what the future holds but this has been me (me and a million other people) waiting to know what happens to Harry Potter!

In no way am I book critic with any credentials but here's my honest take on Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Part 1 and Part 2.  The real reason the Harry Potter saga was one of my all time favorite reads was because JK Rowling writes extremely well but leaves so so much room for your imagination to run free.

Secret Confession : I've never watched any of the Harry Potter movies.  One of my best friends forced me to watch the Harry Potter movie and I turned it off 7 minutes in.  I just couldn't have any of it.  I'm a firm believer that the book is ALWAYS better than the movie - because frankly no one can depict what my imagination can.  Coming back to the subject matter ...

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Part1 and Part2

Things I Liked :
Reading this book brought back so many memories! The authors do a great job of tying in something or the other from previous books.  It's almost comforting to be in the world of magic again.
Without any spoilers - I love that the book brings us back to Harry's childhood and how the old characters tie in with the new.

Things I didn't Like :(
I was expecting the 8th book and this definitely was NOT it.  The book was written for a play and has been published in a play manuscript but leaves me wanting JK Rowling's intense passion for detail.  There is a lot more room for your imagination to do its job but the script seems very non-detailed at some points.  Too much happens in too short of a "book" but really it's just not THE Harry Potter series novel I was looking forward to.

Overall Verdict :
It wasn't love but it did hit the right notes, bringing back all the characters I'd grew up with.  Would have been a perfect 10 if JK Rowling just sat down and wrote this play into a novel.

I've been really sick this past week or so giving me tons of extra time to read (but really it's Harry Potter - I would have made time).  Reading was honestly a hobby I was obsessed with throughout my life but once college hit - the amount of time I spent reading rapidly declined.  My husband, really is not fond of reading but back in college bought me a Kindle to help save some room on my bookshelves.  I have a ton of books on my Kindle and go through them relatively quickly but I always find myself longing for that "book smell" (book worms you know what I'm talking about).

I've been wanting to start a book club with the girls where I'd host but everyone's schedules (including mine) are just so  busy it's been a nightmare coordinating a convenient time.  Let's start a virtual book club right here.  Will you Read With Me?  Help me pick our first read...

The rules are simple - we'll pick at the start of every month and at the end of the month - we'll have a discussion on our thoughts at the end of the month!  Send me a snap / direct message on Instagram / or leave a comment down below.
